چکیده

The purpose of this study was to validate a submaximal treadmill test for prediction of maximal oxygen consumption in fifteen male college students. This objective was accomplished by comparing maximal oxygen intake values recorded during a maximal treadmill test with those predicted from the submaximal test. Comparisons were also made among and between the true and predicted values and those estimated from the AstrandRhyming nomogram. Application of the analysis of variance techniques indicated that no significant difference existed between the criterion and the two predictors. The average error of prediction; however, was 8 percent for the submaximal test and 15 percent for the nomogram. The results of the study indicated that the submaximal test yielded a valid estimate of maximal oxygen intake and is more accurate than several of the commonly used submaximal tests. Effects of maximal and sub-maximal resistance exercise on muscle damage, inflammation, intrinsic antioxidant in non-athlete men

Introduction: The intensity of the strength training at the start for preventing muscle damage, inflammation and intrinsic antioxidant is not well defined. Intrestingly, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of maximal and sub-maximal resistance exercise on muscle damage, inflammation and intrinsic antioxidant in non-athlete men. Materials and Methods: Nineteen young untrained me...

Omentin-1 and chemerin's response to two different exercise models in overweight men

Background & Objectives: Omentin-1 and chemerin are adipocytes that are inversely associated with obesity. The purpose of the present study was to compare the effect of eight weeks of Submaximal and High Intensity Interval swimming practice on changes in serum levels of omentin-1 and chemerin in overweight young men. Materials & Methods: in this semi-experimental study among statistical pop...

Exogenous Ketone Supplement Ingestion And Submaximal Exercise Response in Trained, Male Cyclists: A Randomised, Double-blind Study

Background. The acute ingestion of ketone body supplements can improve exercise responses such as oxygen consumption and blood lactate. Additionally, ketone body supplements show increases in circulating βhb concentration, matching those of someone in a state of nutritional ketosis. Studies testing ketone body supplements have reported different results in exercise response and varying gastroin...

Criterion validation of two submaximal aerobic fitness tests, the self-monitoring Fox-walk test and the Åstrand cycle test in people with rheumatoid arthritis

BACKGROUND Aerobic capacity tests are important to evaluate exercise programs and to encourage individuals to have a physically active lifestyle. Submaximal tests, if proven valid and reliable could be used for estimation of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max). The purpose of the study was to examine the criterion-validity of the submaximal self-monitoring Fox-walk test and the submaximal Åstrand cy...

Nitric oxide impairs Ca2+ activation and slows cross-bridge cycling kinetics in skeletal muscle.

The effects of the nitric oxide (NO) donor spermine NONOate (Sp-NO, 1.0 mM) on cross-bridge recruitment and cross-bridge cycling kinetics were studied in permeabilized rabbit psoas muscle fibers. Fibers were activated at various Ca2+ concentrations (pCa, negative logarithm of Ca2+ concentration), and the pCa at which force was maximal (pCa 4.0) and approximately 50% of maximal (pCa50 5.6) were ...
